What's on

Future Health & Wellbeing Course

Andy Woodcock (Community Bridge Builder) is currently working on putting together a health and wellbeing course which he hopes to be able to offer in the near future.

Some people may remember that we ran a six week course last year with the assistance of ACE Healthcare. This course looked at various aspects of healthy living, exercise and diet.

Andy has now completed the Level 2 Award in Understanding Health Improvement from the Royal Society For Public Health.

We are keen to expand on last years successful course and Andy would like to offer the opportunity for people to get involved and help with planning and designing the course that we will finally offer.

Possible areas that we may include would be the effects of diet, exercise, smoking and alcohol.

If you would like to get involved with this project please contact Andy Woodcock on 07854 792080 or awoodcock@westessexmind.org.uk

Community Allotment Project

Now the warmer and hopefully drier weather is here. We would like to encourage all you green and not so green fingered experts out into the fresh air for a bit of planning and light duties on our allotment.

Monday 17th March at Midday or Thursday 20th March at 1.00pm.

Meet at Bush Fair and walk over to Stile Croft. If anyone can bring a rake/fork or spade that would be very helpful and much appreciated.

Contact Martin Baker (Community Bridge Builder) on 07854 793329 for more details.

West Essex Mind Allotment

Calling all green fingered people out there !

Martin Baker (Community Bridge Builder) has managed to acquire an allotment plot for West Essex Mind use.

Martin is on the lookout for keen people to join him to share ideas and get this project started.

The allotment is located at Stile Croft which is around a ten minute walk from our WELLbeing centre at Bush Fair. Although covered in weeds it has in part been in cultivation.

If you would like more information you can contact Martin on 07854 793329 or mbaker@westessexmind.org.uk

West Essex Mind is looking at the possibility of developing a wellbeing course. The idea behind this course would be to help people better understand how to live a healthier lifestyle and encourage them to become more active.

We have recently been running a trial course in conjunction with ACE Healthcare which looked at some of the techniques you can use to loose weight and increase a healthy lifestyle.

This course would ideally run over six two hour sessions and may cover such subjects as food portion sizes, how to correctly read food labels and techniques on healthy living.

We are looking for service users to get involved with the planning and development stage of this project.

If you would like to be involved in helping shape this possible future service please contact Andy Woodcock  on 07854 792080 or awoodcock@westessexmind.org.uk.

"I had a black dog, his name was depression"...

The World Health Organisation have made an animated video about depression. It's an insightful, poignant but heart-warming story about a man's relationship with his 'black dog'. You can watch it by clicking here.
